FreeBSD Server Installation Checklist

Pre-Installation

Verify hardware compatibility with FreeBSD

Download the latest FreeBSD server ISO from thier official website

Create a bootable USB drive or DVD with the ISO

Backup any existing data on the target server

Boot from the installation media

Select "Install" from the FreeBSD boot menu

Choose the appropriate keymap for your keyboard

Set the hostname for your FreeBSD server

Select the components to install (base system, kernel, ports, etc.)

Partition the disk (consider using ZFS for advanced features)

Set the root password

Configure network settings (IPv4/IPv6, DNS, etc.)

Set the time zone

Enable necessary services (e.g., sshd, ntpd)

Create a non-root user account

Update the system using 'freebsd-update'

Install the 'pkg' package management tool

Install necessary software packages

Configure the firewall (PF or IPFW)

Set up SSH for secure remote access

Configure periodic tasks for maintenance
